Who may attend?

Any person aged five years or older may be enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan Karate-do.

When can I begin training?

Our regular training sessions run from September to December and January to April each year. In addition we hold summer session from May to August. New members are accepted at any time of the year. An exact time can be easily arranged with the instructor.

When are classes held?

Classes are conducted Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Specific class times can be determined by consulting the class schedule or inquiring with the instructor.

If I join, how often should I attend?

Members are encouraged to train two to three times per week. It is, however, up to you to determine the amount of time you wish to devote to karate training.

Shito Ryu Canada

The University of Saskatchewan Karate-do is a member of Shito-Ryu Canada, which instructs traditional Shihan Demura-ha karate-do. The Shitoryu Karate-do Canada organization sets out the course of instruction, trains and certifies instructors and provides rank recognition for its members. Each year Shito Ryu Canada offers seminars tournaments for all Shitoryu Karate-do Canada members and conducts instructor training as well as black belt examinations. We also offer international training opportunities, including Japan for those interested.

Kobudo & Iaido

Members are instructed in Okinawan Kobudo (weaponry) Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchuku, Kama and Eku Bo as well as Japanese Swordsmanship (Iaido).
